Coordinating nursing, hospital case management, transport and environmental services to optimize simultaneous patient throughput and achieve Total Hospital Efficiency...

"Improving operational performance will help Mercy Health Partners to reduce inherent delays in the patient care process by decreasing diversions, increasing bed capacity and managing length of stay (LOS) more effectively."

Care Logistics' Patient Logistics module provides the core functionality that hospitals need to begin the journey to total hospital efficiency. Care Logistics combines the power of Patient Logistics with our unique operations process improvement methodology.  Our operational methodology, a complete hospital case management solution, ensures that your organization is positioned to be successful.

The hospital software component of the Hospital Operating SystemTM, Patient Logistics is built to be used throughout your entire enterprise.  Through real time data and visibility, it gives all appropriate personnel the tools needed to more efficiently manage patient throughput.  Your organization will finally have the ability to manage the simultaneous logistics of every patient as they move through your hospital, reducing wasted time and effort.  Access to this robust toolset provides your healthcare management with the real time operational data that they need to better manage their organization.

Key Modules within Patient Logistics:

Bed Management- Combined with our Care Coordination ModelTM, which is designed to optimize each patient's hospital length of stay, the Bed Management functionality provides the house supervisor or bed control office the tools to quickly visualize, in real time, the current status and bed availability in all units, and patients that are ready to be admitted to a unit.  The house supervisor has the ability to instantly "drag and drop" the patient into a unit queue or available bed.  This will instantly alert all necessary patient care providers that a patient is on the way.  All needed patient status data such as diagnosis, custom alerts, and detailed notes fields follow the patient throughout their stay, instantly giving all patient care providers the ability to quickly assess the progress of where the patient is in their stay. The Bed Management module results in detailed bed tracking and monitoring which leads to efficient patient throughput that results in quality patient care and safety.

Nursing- Enables nursing units to quickly determine bed availability and plan for the next admission or patient discharge.  Patient care providers working on the units can mark patients as anticipated for hospital discharge, pending for discharge or unit transfer.  Any status changes that occur on the unit are instantly updated within the application.  Via workstation displays or electronic bed boards, all necessary personnel across the entire facility has visibility into the patient status.  These powerful tools assist both the unit and the house supervisor in planning for the next steps needed for patient care as well as beginning the planning for the next admission.

Environmental Services- Provides the ability to manage your entire housekeeping workflow.  Reducing the time it takes to turn a bed after patient discharge is a key component of improving patient flow.  The Environmental Services functionality will allow for automatic dispatch of staff for hospital bed cleanings as well as the instant notification of when a bed is clean and available.  Upon initiation of a Discharge Transport request, the next available or nearest housekeeper will be notified and dispatched.  Utilizing your chosen input method (phone, interactive voice response, pager) the housekeeper can instantly update the bed management system when the bed is clean and ready for the next patient.

Transport- Provides clinical personnel the ability to request transport for their patients.  Once a request has been generated, indicators are visible to the patient care staff that provides a status on their request.   Our system also optimizes how transporters work by locating the nearest and available transporter to assign the next request, ensuring your personnel are working in as efficient a manner as possible.  Once a patient is transported from a unit, (by a nurse or general transporter), the application shows where the patient is being transported to, giving everyone (physicians, nurses, family members) real time information on the patient's location.  To provide greater visibility, this location information is also displayed on the electronic bed boards on the unit.

Length of Stay Management- Enables your case managers the ability to set, within the system, both the geometric and target hospital length of stay.  This information is instantly visible on all computers and on the electronic bed boards, giving all providers the ability to better target when the patient is anticipated to be discharged.  Tools are also available to assist in managing and tracking payor information and updates.

Care Logistics Floor View  (U.S. Patent No. D635,150)

In an effort to move the logistical information and capabilities of Patient Logistics closer to the patient bed, we have developed a Floor View module.  Floor View's Interactive wall-mounted displays are located near the patient care rooms to provide visibility to patient alerts and status information on the patients in the vicinity and enable nurses to perform many of the actions normally available only through the Patient Logistics hospital software application in the nursing station.
